What you'll do at work
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career within the insurance broking sector while completing the Level 4 Insurance Professional Apprenticeship and working towards a recognised professional insurance qualification.
Working alongside experienced insurance professionals, you will develop the technical knowledge and commercial skills required to support clients, understand their insurance requirements, approach insurers and help arrange appropriate insurance solutions.
As you progress through the apprenticeship, you will take on greater responsibility for managing client relationships and supporting the full broking lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
· Support the management of new and existing client relationships.
· Build an understanding of clients businesses, activities and insurance requirements.
· Assist with obtaining and reviewing quotations from insurers.
· Communicate with insurers to negotiate terms, premiums and levels of cover.
· Support the preparation of insurance proposals, presentations and renewal documentation.
· Assist with new business, renewals and mid-term adjustments.
· Compare policy wordings, exclusions, limits and conditions to help identify suitable insurance solutions.
· Maintain regular communication with clients and provide a high standard of customer service.
· Develop strong working relationships with insurers, underwriters and other insurance professionals.
· Ensure client and policy information is accurately recorded on internal systems.
· Work in accordance with FCA requirements, company procedures and relevant insurance regulations.
· Identify opportunities to support the wider growth and retention of client accounts.
· Develop your technical knowledge of insurance products, risk and the wider insurance market.
The Apprenticeship
As part of the role, you will complete the Level 4 Insurance Professional Apprenticeship alongside your day-to-day employment.
The programme will help you develop advanced knowledge and skills across areas including:

· Insurance products and markets
· Regulatory and compliance requirements

· Negotiation and commercial awareness

· Claims and underwriting principles

You will also work towards an industry-recognised professional insurance qualification as part of your apprenticeship programme.
You will receive dedicated time during your working hours to complete apprenticeship training, workshops, assessments and professional development activities.

What you'll learn
Course contents- Provide customer service by making informed decisions whilst balancing the needs of stakeholders and the organisation, prioritising fair customer outcomes in all decisions, for example determining a high value insurance payout while balancing business needs with customer retention practices.
- Investigate, analyse, and resolve technical insurance queries, complaints, and escalated cases and requests relevant to their role.
- Work within limits of own authority, and escalating issues where appropriate.
- Communicate with stakeholders using methods appropriate for the intended audience in line with organisational expectations, including verbal, written, digital, and virtual.
- Interpret and communicate insurance and business information in a way that facilitates understanding for the intended audience, for example finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- Build and maintain collaborative, professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute towards achieving team and organisational objectives.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and recommend solutions to improve processes.
- Use influencing techniques to achieve required aims and outcomes relevant to their role.
- Analyse and interpret information to make recommendations in line with legal, regulatory, process, or policy requirements, and insurance principles.
- Identify potential non-compliance issues and take action to avoid or mitigate issues in line with financial services regulation, legislation and the insurance principles.
- Provide technical advice and support for colleagues, for example acting as an escalation point for junior colleagues or providing feedback to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Take an evidence-based approach to decision-making and challenge ideas based on evidence, considering the impact on business objectives.
- Use digital tools and techniques relevant to own role and workplace, for example, AI analytics, modelling, telematics, portals, online placements, products, pricing.
- Comply with current data legislation, cyber security regulations, and organisational policies, including when managing and storing client data safely and securely.
- Apply current and developing sustainability principles relevant to insurance products and working practices within their business area.
- Apply principles and policies of equity, diversity, and inclusion where appropriate.
