Pay: £102-£115 per day (depending on experience)

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Blackley is seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis from September. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant or someone with a strong interest in supporting children with social, emotional, and mental health needs within a mainstream primary setting.

About the Role

You will work closely with pupils who require additional support with their social, emotional, and behavioural development. Supporting children on both a 1:1 and small group basis, you will help create a safe, structured, and positive learning environment where pupils feel supported and able to engage with their education.

Working alongside teachers, the SENCO, and the wider pastoral team, you will provide tailored support to help pupils develop confidence, emotional regulation, positive relationships, and the skills needed to succeed in school.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs.

• Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour management, and social development.

• Assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive learning activities.

• Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.

• Implement individual support plans and behaviour strategies.

• Encourage pupils' engagement, confidence, and independence.

• Support the creation of a calm, structured, and nurturing classroom environment.

• Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, pastoral staff, and external professionals.

• Promote positive behaviour through consistent and supportive approaches.

The Ideal Candidate

• Has experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, or additional needs.

• Has a patient, caring, and resilient approach.

• Is confident supporting pupils with behavioural and emotional challenges.

• Can build strong relationships and act as a positive role model.

• Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.

• Is adaptable and committed to helping pupils reach their full potential.

• Has the right to work in the UK and is available full-time.

Desirable (but not essential)

• Experience working within a primary school setting.

• Experience supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH, ADHD, or autism.

• Knowledge of behaviour support strategies and positive reinforcement approaches.

• Experience working with individual behaviour plans or pastoral interventions.

• Team Teach or other positive behaviour management training.
