CORE PURPOSE

We require an inspiring, highly articulate English Teacher to deliver outstanding English Language and English Literature instruction across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. Operating within a rapidly improving academy converter and backed by a progressive Multi-Academy Trust, the successful candidate will facilitate a knowledge-rich, text-driven curriculum designed to foster deep analytical reading, advanced written expression, critical thinking, and a lifelong appreciation for the literary canon, preparing all pupils thoroughly for terminal GCSE English public examinations.

• Closing Literacy Attainment Gaps: Identify and target reading and writing barriers, deploying explicit vocabulary instruction, sentence-level scaffolding, and targeted reading interventions to accelerate progress for all pupils, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEND) and English as an Additional Language (EAL).

• GCSE Performance Optimization: Guide Year 11 cohorts systematically through the demands of terminal English Language and English Literature papers, teaching explicit structures for critical essay writing, comparative text analysis, and creative writing.

• Data-Driven Progress Monitoring: Meticulously analyse formative assessment essays, live writing tasks, and mock exam scripts to pinpoint specific analytical or mechanical weaknesses, deploying immediate, targeted editing workshops.

• Community Pastoral Care: Fulfil full form tutor responsibilities within an established pastoral framework, managing daily registration, delivering tutor-period literacy and wellbeing units, and maintaining proactive, supportive communication with families.

PROFILE REQUIREMENTS

• Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised equivalent teaching credential, paired with a strong honours degree in English Literature, English Language, Creative Writing, or a closely related humanities discipline.

• Pedagogical Capability: A proven track record or clear capacity to deliver strong progress metrics in terminal public GCSE examinations through structured, explicit, and high-impact English pedagogy.
