About the role:
The IT Support Apprentice will be responsible for the following duties:
- Respond to first-line support requests from internal users, providing assistance with Microsoft 365 applications, Windows operating systems, hardware, printers, mobile devices and remote access tools
- Log, update and monitor support requests, ensuring accurate records are maintained within the IT service desk system
- Escalate incidents and service requests to other members of the IT team where appropriate
- Assist with the setup, deployment and configuration of laptops, desktops, mobile devices and peripheral equipment
- Support user account administration activities, including password resets and account management, under supervision
- Support routine system maintenance activities, including updates, patching and endpoint security checks
- Assist in maintaining the security of IT systems by following IT policies, procedures and security best practices
- Support mobile device enrolment and configuration using approved company technologies
- Assist with meeting room technology, audio-visual equipment and event IT requirements
- Liaise with suppliers and third-party support providers as directed by senior members of the team
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of user guides, knowledge base articles and technical documentation
- Actively participate in apprenticeship learning activities and apply acquired knowledge within the workplace
- Undertake other reasonable duties that support the IT team and help build your knowledge and experience as part of your apprenticeship
- Assist with maintaining hardware and software asset records and stock inventories
Essential Skills:
It is essential that the IT Support Apprentice has the following skills and personal qualities:
- GCSEs in maths and English with at least a grade C/4 or equivalent
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent customer service approach
- Experience of working, volunteering or studying in a customer-focused environment
- Professional and reliable
- Enthusiastic and willing to learn
- Ability to work as part of a small team
- Ability to use own initiative
- Previous work experience, school projects or personal projects involving IT support, hardware or software troubleshooting
