About InfluenceMap
InfluenceMap is a globally recognized nonprofit think tank driving change on climate and sustainability. We produce cutting-edge, objective research on how businesses and finance impact the climate crisis, working collaboratively across the corporate, finance, public, civil society, and media sectors.
InfluenceMap is best known for its LobbyMap platform, which analyzes corporate advocacy and policy engagement activities related to climate change and nature. Our work has been featured in the media globally , used by hundreds of investors, and informed numerous climate campaigns. Other work streams include the FinanceMap platform, which assesses the climate credentials of the financial sector, and the Carbon Majors platform, which tracks emissions from the world’s largest polluters. With offices in London, New York, Tokyo, Seoul, Sao Paulo, and Brussels, we are a team of 75 professionals shaping the climate and nature agendas worldwide.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced people professional to act as the principal point of contact for our team on all people matters. The role has a global remit across our offices and is based in London, where most of our team is located. This is a part-time role of two or three days per week: we are open on the exact commitment and will agree on a pattern that suits the successful candidate’s circumstances. It is well suited to someone who has built a successful career in People / HR Management and now wants to apply that experience in a smaller, highly mission-driven organization.
Working alongside Senior Management and our external Senior HR Advisor, you will be the person colleagues come to with individual workplace matters, and the person who has responsibility for and explains and upholds our policies and processes across the team. The role calls for maturity, solid experience, sound judgment, and strong interpersonal skills: the ability to listen carefully and build trust, while remaining clear and focussed in representing the organization’s position where required.
You will work independently day to day, drawing on the external Senior HR Advisor for specialist input and reporting to Senior Management on emerging issues. This role owns people development, the review process, and formal HR processes, with input from Senior Management and the senior group where appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations and Day-to-Day People Support
- Act as the primary day-to-day people contact for team members, providing a trusted, professional and approachable point of support, in person in the London office and remotely for colleagues elsewhere.
- Hold regular one-to-one catch-ups with all team members from Program Manager level upwards, maintaining a consistent rhythm of contact across all of our offices.
- Conduct effective one-to-one meetings: listening carefully, drawing out the substance of an issue, and providing clear guidance, expectations and follow-through.
- Handle sensitive or difficult employee matters with discretion, consistency and sound judgment, balancing individual concerns with organizational needs.
- Lead sensitive HR meetings and processes, including difficult conversations, and produce the accurate written documentation each process requires.
- Identify emerging employee relations matters and team dynamics early, and resolve them before they escalate.
People Development and Team Communication
- Own people development across the organization, including the performance review process, competency frameworks and KPIs, with appropriate input from Senior Management and the senior group as needed.
- Own team communications on people matters, ensuring that processes, frameworks and expectations are explained clearly and consistently across all offices.
- Keep development frameworks practical, current and consistently applied, and support managers in using them well.
Policies, Standards and Communication
- Communicate and explain company policies, procedures and management decisions clearly, consistently and constructively.
- Ensure team members understand the expected standards of conduct, performance and accountability with adherence to existing policies.
- Represent the organization’s position confidently and firmly where required, while maintaining respectful and productive working relationships.
- Keep policies and supporting documentation current, practical, and aligned with UK employment requirements, and apply them consistently across our international offices.
Employment Law, Immigration and External HR Partnership
- Apply strong practical knowledge of UK employment law and recognized HR practice to day-to-day decisions.
- Own immigration processes, including UK Skilled Worker visa applications and sponsorship compliance, and coordinate equivalent requirements for colleagues based in our other offices.
- Work closely with our external Senior HR Advisor on employee relations, performance, disciplinary and grievance matters, escalating specialist questions appropriately.
- Ensure processes are handled properly, proportionately and with clear documentation.
Partnership with Senior Management
- Support Senior Management with sound judgment on people-related issues and risks, offering a clear recommended way forward.
- Support a positive, high-performing and mission-driven working environment through proactive engagement and effective issue resolution.
Requirements
Essential
- Significant experience in a People / HR Management role with a strong and employee relations background.
- Strong practical knowledge of UK employment law and workplace best practice.
- Proven experience handling complex and sensitive employee matters through to resolution.
- Experience owning performance and development processes end to end, including review cycles, competency frameworks and KPIs.
- Experience running formal HR processes and producing the documentation each requires.
- Excellent communication skills: a strong ability to listen deeply, ask the right questions, and communicate with clarity and appropriate boundaries.
- The ability to combine empathy with firmness, and to hold and communicate the organization’s position where required.
- Comfortable working in a mission-driven environment where colleagues are deeply invested in the cause and hold themselves to a high standard.
- High levels of discretion, integrity and professional maturity.
- Comfortable working independently while partnering closely with Senior Management and external HR advisers.
- Right to work in the UK.
Desirable
- CIPD qualification, or equivalent professional accreditation.
- Experience in a small or scaling organization without a large internal HR function.
- Experience supporting colleagues in more than one country or time zone.
- Familiarity with UK immigration processes, in particular the Skilled Worker visa route and sponsor license obligations.
Benefits
The Package
- Employment type: Part-time, two or three days per week. We are open on the exact commitment and will agree a working pattern that suits the successful candidate’s circumstances. The role offers flexibility for an experienced people or HR professional seeking a meaningful role following a successful career in the field.
- Hours: Two or three days per week, with at least two of those days in our London office, most likely between Tuesday and Thursday. The precise pattern is to be agreed.
- Location: London, UK, with at least two days per week in our London office and flexible or remote working for any remaining time. The role supports the whole organisation, with the majority of the team based in London.
- Salary: From £70,000 per annum on a full-time equivalent basis, prorated to the agreed working pattern: from £28,000 for a two-day week. Final salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
- Benefits: Our standard benefits package. Part-time colleagues receive the same benefits as full-time colleagues.
- Annual leave: Paid annual leave entitlement on a pro-rata basis. Plus an extra three paid days with organization-wide closure at year's end.
- Work structure: At least two days per week in the London office, most likely between Tuesday and Thursday, with flexible and remote working for any remaining time, and regular engagement with Senior Management, our external Senior HR Advisor and colleagues across our offices.
How to Apply
If you are excited about this role but your experience does not align perfectly with every requirement, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate, or you may have transferable skills that would be valuable elsewhere in our team.
Please apply via the application link and submit your application by September 15, 2026. Early applications are welcome and will be reviewed as they arrive.
