SEND Teacher - Early Years
Not every child starts their learning journey feeling safe, confident, or ready to engage.
Some need a little more time. A little more patience. A teacher who understands that the smallest steps can lead to the biggest breakthroughs.
If you're passionate about Early Years SEND education , Autism (ASC) , SEMH , and helping children reach their potential through nurture, play, and personalised support, this could be the perfect role for you.
We're recruiting an Early Years SEND Teacher for a specialist school in North west Leeds, supporting young learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) , including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) , Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs , and complex learning difficulties.
This is an opportunity to make a lasting difference during the most important stage of a child's development.
What You'll Be Doing
As an Early Years SEND Teacher , you'll create a safe, nurturing learning environment where every child can thrive at their own pace.
Your responsibilities will include:
✅ Planning and delivering engaging, child-centred EYFS lessons tailored to individual needs
✅ Supporting children with Autism (ASC) , SEMH , communication difficulties, sensory needs, and complex SEND
✅ Using play-based and therapeutic approaches to encourage learning, confidence, and independence
✅ Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils and their families
✅ Working collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, therapists, and wider multidisciplinary teams
✅ Celebrating progress in all its forms – from first words and social interactions to academic achievements
Why Early Years SEND Matters
In Early Years, every interaction counts.
The child who joins a group activity for the first time. The child who learns to communicate a need. The child who finally feels safe enough to engage in learning.
These moments may seem small to others, but they're life-changing for the children and families you support.
