Nursing Associate (NMC Registered)
£28,560 pa (FTE) plus enhancements for night shifts.
37.5 hours per week part time may also be considered at 30 or 36 hours per week

The Role
We are seeking qualified Nursing Associates who want to be part of our Care team. You will be working as part of a supportive team consisting of nurses, nursing associates, care support workers and other health professionals. You will provide a high standard of holistic care and be able to balance opportunities for children to experience play, social interaction and learning alongside meeting the diverse nursing needs of the children supported by Bluebell Wood. Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality, holistic and person-centred care to babies, children and young people with palliative care needs, working within own scope of practice and under the direction of a registered nurse.
Implement a defined plan of care following organisational policies and Standard Operating Procedures to deliver; planned short breaks, symptom management and end of life care.

• Safely administer prescribed medicines, including controlled drugs, via a range of routes in line with policy, ensuring competence, accountability and adherence to legal and professional standards
• Work flexibly and collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team.
• Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical records and effective communication to support safe, continuous care.

Our services: Our uncompromisable support services are wide-ranging and bespoke to each family. We provide symptom management, end-of-life care, post-death care, short breaks, counselling, sibling support groups, music therapy, home visits and more. We support families across a large geographical area, including South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire, North Derbyshire and parts of North Lincolnshire. The hospice is easily accessible from Barnsley, Rotherham, Doncaster, Sheffield and North Notts. We have free secure on-site parking for families, staff and volunteers to use. Every year we need to raise £6.7m to keep our doors open and only around 17% of our income comes from government sources, the rest must be raised through fundraising activity.

Job Purpose
The main purpose of the job, as a Bluebell Wood Nursing Associate, is to provide and ensure a high standard of holistic care to babies, children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions, while also creating and facilitating opportunities for them to experience play, social interaction and learning. The role involves delivering child-focused, family-centred palliative and end-of-life care in collaboration with other members of the interdisciplinary team and working flexibly between the hospice and community settings to independently care for children in the most appropriate environment to meet their individual needs.

Key Responsibilities
Clinical:

• Provide and coordinate care for children with complex and changing needs, recognising deterioration and escalating concerns appropriately.
• Work flexibly and collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to deliver coordinated care across hospice and community settings.
• Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical records and effective communication to support safe, continuous care.
• Manage and prioritise own workload, contributing to a safe care environment, supporting the development of others and fostering a positive working environment

Education:

• Maintain and develop own clinical knowledge and competence through ongoing learning, reflection and engagement with training opportunities.
• Actively share knowledge and skills with colleagues, contributing to a positive, supportive learning environment that promotes continuous development across the team.
• Support the learning and development of students, new starters and less experienced staff through supervision, teaching and role modelling safe, effective practice.
• Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by participating in audit, feedback, and service development activities where appropriate.

Professional Requirements:

• Comply with the requirements for NMC Revalidation, identifying own learning needs and ensuring own professional development is maintained by keeping up to date with practice developments.
• Participate in clinical supervision and appraisals.
• Successfully complete required competences and demonstrate compliance with standard operating procedures as defined by Bluebell Wood.

Safeguarding:
All hospice staff have a responsibility for safeguarding children, young people and adults at risk, which includes:

• an understanding of relevant hospice policies
• ensuring that any safeguarding and child protection or vulnerable adults concerns are both recognised and acted on appropriately
• attendance at mandatory safeguarding children and adults training and updates at the competency level appropriate to their role and in accordance with the Bluebell Wood safeguarding training guidance.

Qualifications

• Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register
• Foundation degree
• GCSEs Grade C or above in Maths and English Language / New GCSE Grade 4-9 in Maths and English Language OR Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths and English or Equivalent (not entry level 2)

Other
Essential

• Legally entitled to work in the UK.
• Full driving licence with access to a reliable vehicle and business insurance cover
• Able to travel extensively to meet the needs of all our children, young people and their families.
