Specialty Doctor - North & South Manchester | Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust

This a full-time appointment for a section 12 approved Specialty Doctor to work on one of our general-adult inpatient wards. The temporary base for this post is in North Manchester (North View) and the permanent base for this post is South Manchester (Laureate House). Successful candidates will be working with a multidisciplinary team. The Postholder will attend ward rounds, conduct reviews, and create management plans for patients on the ward. It also includes chairing ward rounds and making decisions about patient care in the absence of the consultant, seeking advice from covering consultant when appropriate. The post holder will complete review and authorize discharge summaries as required

Clinical role

· Attend ward rounds, conduct reviews, and create management plans for patients on the ward. It also includes chairing ward rounds and making decisions about patient care in the absence of the consultant, seeking advice from covering consultant when appropriate.

· Complete, review and authorize discharge summaries as required

· MHA work including preparation of tribunal reports and presenting evidence at the tribunal hearings.

· Assess and manage physical health for patients on the inpatient wards.

· Participate in leading clinical decision making in the multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of high-quality care.

· Be involved in developing service clinical priorities in line with national and professional guidance and standards.

· Be involved in clinical governance related activities such as audits and quality improvement projects. Educational roles:

· Provide supervision and support to doctors in training working with the team.

· Provide teaching to medical students and doctors in training working in the trust.

Leadership roles:
• Participate in leading clinical decision making in the multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of high-quality care
• Be involved in developing service clinical priorities in line with national and professional guidance and standards
• Be involved in clinical governance related activities such as audits and quality improvement projects.
