Rugby Coach/PE Faculty Assistant

Scarisbrick Hall School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, reliable and motivated  Rugby Coach / PE Faculty Assistant to join our PE and Games Department from September 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about rugby, enjoys working with young people and wants to play an important role in the continued development of school sport at Scarisbrick Hall.

The main focus of the coaching role will be supporting the delivery and development of rugby across  Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 . The successful candidate will work closely with the  Head of Rugby and  Head of Faculty of PE and Sport to help provide pupils with a positive, well-structured and enjoyable rugby experience, from their first introduction to the game through to regular training and fixtures.

We are looking for someone who can bring energy, enthusiasm and high standards to our rugby programme. Strong rugby experience, either through playing or coaching, would be highly beneficial. Current rugby coaching qualifications are desirable, although we would also welcome applications from ambitious candidates who are keen to develop their coaching pathway within a school environment.

Alongside rugby coaching, the successful candidate will support the wider PE Faculty as a Faculty Assistant. This will include assisting with Games lessons, helping with the organisation of fixtures, supporting co-curricular sport and contributing to the day-to-day running of the department.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will:

• Coach rugby across  Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 , which will be the main emphasis of the role.

• Support the delivery of rugby sessions, Games lessons and co-curricular practices.

• Help pupils develop core rugby skills, confidence, teamwork and enjoyment of the game.

• Assist with school fixtures, including team preparation and match-day support.

• Work closely with the Head of Rugby and Head of Faculty of PE and Sport to support the growth and consistency of the rugby programme.

• Support the wider PE Department with the delivery of Games across year groups.

• Assist with PE Faculty administration, organisation of equipment, registers, fixtures and general departmental tasks.

• Promote high standards of behaviour, effort, sportsmanship and pride when representing Scarisbrick Hall School.

The Successful Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

• Has a genuine passion for rugby and school sport.

• Enjoys coaching and supporting pupils across different ages and abilities.

• Has strong communication skills and can build positive relationships with pupils and staff.

• Is organised, professional and able to work as part of a busy PE Department.

• Has experience of playing and/or coaching rugby.

• Holds, or is willing to work towards, relevant rugby coaching qualifications.

• Understands the importance of developing pupils at the early stages of their rugby journey.

• Is committed to supporting the values, expectations and wider sporting ambitions of Scarisbrick Hall School.
