Now recruiting Youth Housing Workers (Bank) (Casual Support Staff in MACS Housing Services for Young People) Do you have 3 months’ paid work experience or 6 months’ voluntary work experience supporting people in a caring role? MACS Supported Housing Services provides housing for young people who are homeless or leaving care to make the transition to independent living and their own tenancy. Youth Housing Workers (Bank) provide shift cover, as an accessible point of contact on night shifts and weekends. With a range of sleeping and waking shifts available, supported housing staff promote the protection and safeguarding of young people living at MACS. We will review applications daily and if successfully shortlisted, will be in touch as soon as possible if we’d like to invite you for interview. Please note that successful applicants will be required to attend a mandatory training session. Locations: Belfast 14-20 University Street, Belfast, BT7 1FZ Downpatrick 9 English Street, Downpatrick, BT30 6AB Lisburn 190 Longstone Street, Lisburn, BT28 1TT Newry 99-101 Canal Street, Newry, BT35 6DX Closing Date: Thursday 30th July 2026 at 9.30am. Responsibilities
- To establish a positive relationship with Young People and to support them to create a safe home environment.
- To provide holistic support (on a one to one and group basis) to all young people accessing the service, ensuring the support meets their needs.
- To support the move in and move on process.
- To provide young people with support in order for them to transition into independent living.
- To help ensure that the young people are able to maintain their tenancy while assisting them to develop the confidence and skills required to live independently.
- Reflection, personal and professional development both individually and as part of the team.
- Working effectively within a team, ensuring information is communicated with Young People.
- Be required to undertake any other duties to ensure the effective, safe delivery and development of services.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- 3 months paid experience or 6 months voluntary experience of supporting people in a caring role as an employee, volunteer or carer.
- Understanding and knowledge of homelessness, mental health and substance use.
- Ability to practice in line with MACS ethos and values.
