SEN Teaching Assistant - Primary SEN School, Gorton

Full Time: Monday to Friday (8:30am - 3:30pm)
Pay: £102 - £115 per day
Start Date: September 2026
Expected End Date: End of the academic year

A welcoming and supportive primary SEN school in Gorton is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity until the end of the academic year, supporting primary-aged pupils with a range of additional needs in a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

The school is committed to ensuring every child is supported to reach their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally. The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and the wider support team to provide tailored support, helping pupils access learning, build confidence, and develop their independence.

• Providing 1:1 and small group support, adapting learning to meet individual pupil needs

• Supporting primary-aged pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs

• Assisting with the implementation of EHCPs and personalised learning strategies

• Promoting positive behaviour and supporting pupils with emotional regulation

• Encouraging communication, independence, and social development through structured activities and classroom learning

• Working collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, therapists, and other support staff

• Helping to create a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment where every child can succeed

• Have experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs

• Be confident supporting pupils with a range of additional needs and promoting positive behaviour

• Be committed to helping every child achieve their full potential

• Have the right to work in the UK and be available to work full-time

• Hold a Level 2 or Level 3 Supporting Teaching & Learning qualification (desirable)

• Have PECS, Makaton, BSL, or AAC training (desirable)

• Hold MAPA, Team Teach, or similar de-escalation training (desirable)

• Competitive daily rates of £102 - £115 per day

• Working hours of 8:30am - 3:30pm , Monday to Friday

This role is subject to an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS , satisfactory references, and full compliance with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE 2025) guidance and safer recruitment standards. Overseas police checks may be required where applicable.
