We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate BSL Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Sunderland this September. This is a highly rewarding role supporting students with hearing impairments and additional needs, where communication, patience, and relationship-building are key. Key Responsibilities Provide 1:1 and small group support using BSLSupport students with a range of additional needs (including ASD and SEMH)Adapt communication to meet individual learning stylesWork closely with teachers and speech & language professionalsEncourage independence and confidence in communication About the School This is a supportive, nurturing environment where staff are valued and developed. The school places a strong emphasis on communication, emotional wellbeing, and tailored learning approaches. What They Are Looking For BSL Level 1 minimum (Level 2 or 3 preferred)Experience with SEN or a strong interest in working in this sectorA calm, proactive and resilient approachSomeone who builds trust easily with students All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
