- Prepare and present evidence-based cases at the First-tier Tribunal, representing Together for Children Sunderland and the Local Authority.
- Act as the Local Authority decision-maker in mediations, striving to reduce escalation to formal complaints or legal disputes.
- Manage complex SEND casework that may be involved in ongoing legal processes, using effective negotiation and mediation skills.
- Support the Strategic SEND Lead and SEND Team Manager by preparing responses to complaints and formal inquiries.
- Provide professional guidance to SEND staff to enhance casework quality and statutory compliance.
- Draft tribunal responses and ensure high-quality preparation of hearing documents.
- Present cases professionally at tribunal hearings and participate in mediations and resolution meetings.
- Lead early mediation efforts to resolve disputes amicably and promote child-centred outcomes.
- Draft and quality assure Education, Health, and Care Plans in alignment with statutory guidelines.
- Liaise with schools, agencies, and legal representatives to secure coordinated planning for SEND provision.
