Divisional Director | Commercial Schemes & Digital Development

IPS Group have been exclusively retained to recruit a Divisional Director for a leading Commercial insurance business based in Croydon.

This is a rare opportunity to join a well-established Commercial team at a genuinely exciting point in its evolution. Rather than simply maintaining an existing operation, the successful individual will play a key role in developing the schemes proposition and driving digital transformation across the wider regional business, helping shape its future direction and growth.

The Key Focus

The most important aspect of this appointment is the ongoing development of the schemes portfolio, alongside leading the digital agenda on a regional basis. You will be responsible for driving digital transformation beyond your own division, working closely with a dedicated central team to streamline processes, improve efficiency and embed new working practices across multiple business areas.
We’re particularly interested in speaking with individuals who have built, developed or significantly grown insurance schemes, especially where digital trading, automation or technology has played a major role. You may have launched a scheme, enhanced an existing proposition, improved digital trading capability, or worked with insurer partners to create more scalable products, ideally with experience of rolling out similar initiatives across more than one team or specialism.

More Than a Leadership Role

Based in the Croydon office, you will sit within the Commercial team, with a portfolio spanning a broad range of sport clubs and association risks. This is not a pure management role, the business is looking for somebody who can combine leadership, commercial awareness, and strategic thinking, while also acting as a driving force behind digital scheme development across the regional business as a whole.
Sector-specific insurance knowledge is welcomed but not essential. An ideal candidate may have a background in schemes, delegated authority, affinity, or specialist commercial insurance environments, with exposure to scheme development, financial responsibility, and team leadership and, ideally, experience influencing digital strategy beyond a single team or product line.

Commercial Leadership

This role carries significant commercial responsibility, including budgets, financial performance, and the ongoing growth and profitability of the division, in alignment with wider regional goals. You’ll also play a visible role within the Croydon office, supporting a younger and diverse team who are ambitious to progress, while extending your influence on digital scheme initiatives across other parts of the regional business. The business is looking for somebody who enjoys developing people, being part of the team, and leading from the front.
