Role Overview
We are seeking a committed and resilient Behaviour Mentor to join a supportive and inclusive school in Luton . This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about making a positive impact on young people’s lives by supporting students with behavioural, social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will play a key role in helping students overcome barriers to learning, improve engagement, and achieve their full potential within a safe and nurturing educational environment.
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to students displaying challenging behaviour or requiring additional pastoral support.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement and personal development.
- Implement behaviour management strategies in line with school policies and individual support plans.
- Support students with SEMH needs, helping them develop emotional regulation and social skills.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams, SENCOs, and external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for students.
- Monitor, record, and report on student progress, behaviour, and attendance.
- Promote positive behaviour, resilience, and self-confidence both inside and outside the classroom.
- Support students during lessons, break times, and intervention sessions as required.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children or young people in a school, alternative provision, youth work, mentoring, or similar setting.
- Strong behaviour management and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to build rapport with vulnerable and disengaged learners.
- Patience, resilience, and a proactive approach to supporting students.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A genuine passion for helping young people succeed.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Ability to commute reliably to Luton.
