Job summary
We have multiple vacancies for permanent posts for Deputy Team Leader / Senior Recovery Practitioner in the Surgical Elective Centre Operating Theatre Department. The SEC theatre complex is a 7 theatre unit, expanding to 12 in 2027, where elective surgery will be undertaken. Specialities include Spines, Maxillofacial, Plastics, Oculoplastics, Ophthalmology, Endocrine and Vascular surgery. You are expected to provide care to Adults and Children. If you are ready for a challenging and very satisfying role where you can contribute to service provision and make a difference for patients and staff. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a technical interview which will include value based questions. Candidates are encouraged to attend for an informal visit Main duties of the job
We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and self-motivated staff to join the amazing senior SEC Recovery team. Applicants will be expected to have at least 3 years of extensive experience in Recovery and have completed an equivalent practice supervisor/assessor course. Applicants must have excellent communication, informed negotiating, and effective leadership skills to thrive in a busy team environment. You will be encouraged and supported to further develop using the learning opportunities available. There is a structured orientation programme and appraisal system in place to support your development whilst being supported by your team leader and education team. The directorate has a comprehensive Education Strategy to underpin the development of all grades of staff within theatres, to facilitate career development and progression. - To act as the patients advocate during the perioperative period of care
- To be responsible for anticipating and providing skilled clinical and technical assistance as a member of the operating theatre team
- To participate in the assessment of patient care needs and implement and maintain agreed standards of care

- Registered Nurse (Part 1. 8. 12 or 15 of register depending on area of practice), ODP HCPC registration or National certification in area of Practice.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development through maintenance of an ongoing NMC/HCPC revalidation
- Minimum of 3 years experience in Anaesthetics/Recovery
- Evidence of achievement of a NMC or HCPC approved Mentorship qualification.
- UK recognised Degree in Nursing relevant to post or equivalent qualification for ODPs
- Post-graduate qualification related to an area of practice
