Role Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Financial Investigator to join our Financial Investigation Unit on a maternity cover contract until 31/08/2027 unless terminated earlier.
This is a key role within Protective Services, supporting the disruption of criminal activity and the recovery of criminal assets under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 (as amended).
As a Financial Investigator, you will assist with criminal investigations, conduct confiscation and asset‑recovery enquiries, and provide detailed financial analysis to support both proactive and reactive cases. You will work closely with internal teams and external partners including the NCA, NFIB and Regional Economic Crime Unit, contributing to national intelligence and supporting the wider fight against economic crime.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Conducting confiscation, asset‑tracing and money‑laundering investigations
- Freezing, detaining and forfeiting criminal property
- Preparing financial profiles, analytical reports and evidential statements
- Supporting Senior Investigating Officers in serious and complex investigations
- Presenting evidence at court when required
- Ensuring compliance with legislation, policy and professional standards
About you: You will be an Accredited Financial Investigator (Confiscator) or have held accreditation within the last two years and be able to maintain this through CPD. You will bring strong analytical skills, experience in investigation and information gathering, and a sound understanding of relevant legislation. You will be emotionally aware, collaborative, and committed to delivering a high‑quality service to the public.
This is an excellent opportunity to apply your expertise, contribute to meaningful outcomes, and support the continued disruption of criminal finances.
