The role:
The Paediatric Physiotherapy Team are looking for a HCPC registered physiotherapist with an interest in pursuing a career in paediatrics to come and join our team.
We are a forward thinking, dynamic service that delivers rehabilitation services across all the services provided at the Royal Hospital for Children Glasgow encompassing Orthopaedics / Musculoskeletal, Neurology/Neuromuscular and Respiratory clinical specialities. We work closely with the multi-disciplinary to deliver safe, effective, person-centred care. We also have close links with Community Paediatric Services. You should be an adaptable, enthusiastic team-player with excellent communication and decision making skills and an extensive knowledge of Disney characters, super-heroes, nursery rhymes and children’s TV shows.

Overnight and weekend on-call is a requirement of the post and individualised training and support is offered to support this.
All other roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

- Full-time position (36 hours per week)
- Permanent Contract
- Shift pattern for this post are Monday – Friday + on call
Key responsibilities:
- Is professionally and legally accountable and responsible for all aspects of own work including direct and indirect patient care within scope of practice
- Assesses capacity, gains valid consent and has the ability to work within a legal framework, with patients who lack the capacity to consent
- Acts independently to assess, analyse and provide a clinical diagnosis for individual patients, to determine their need for physiotherapy intervention
- Delegates appropriate tasks and supervises Physiotherapy Support Workers to maximise efficiency and achieve desired quality of care
- Participates in the departmental Personal Development and Performance Review system to promote personal and service developments
- Participates in clinical audit and clinical effectiveness projects to support the Clinical Governance agenda
- Regularly attends, and contributes to the physiotherapy departmental and specialty team in-service training programme to promote personal development
- Produces and presents a project on each rotation to promote service development and/or own personal development
- Provides support to students on clinical placement in addition to the formal supervision and assessment from the clinical educator
- Is responsible for work experience students and undergraduate students on observation placement

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
- Degree or diploma leading to Physiotherapy HPC registration
- Current HCPC registration
- Evidence of a range of learning e.g. in-service training, reflective practice.
- Working knowledge of basic IT – e.g. word processing, use of internet, data base management
Knowledge of
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
- Fire Safety
- Therapeutic Moving and Handling Policy
