Communications and Engagement Lead

The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and highly creative Communications and Engagement Lead to play a key role in one of the country's largest ERP transformation programmes. This is a high-profile position at the heart of a major programme of change. You will lead internal communications and engagement activity, ensuring that stakeholders remain informed and engaged while colleagues are fully prepared to adopt and embed sustainable, transformational change.Working as part of an agile, collaborative programme team, you will turn complex technical, operational and strategic information into clear, compelling and accessible communications. You will develop engaging narratives, create high-quality materials and deliver coordinated communications across a range of digital and face-to-face channels.
What You'll Be Doing

• Leading the development and implementation of internal communications and engagement strategies for a major transformation programme
• Creating integrated communication plans informed by audience insight, data and programme priorities
• Translating detailed technical, operational and project information into clear, concise and engaging content
• Developing compelling narratives and key messages that communicate the purpose, benefits and impact of change
• Producing high-quality presentations, executive briefings, information packs and stakeholder-facing materials
• Identifying, creating and monitoring programme-specific communication assets aligned with brand standards and visual identity
• Selecting the most effective channels for different audiences, including social media, video, blogs and online events
• Designing and facilitating workshops and group sessions to strengthen stakeholder engagement
• Building effective relationships with senior stakeholders, subject-matter experts, content owners and fellow communications professionals
• Reviewing and refining materials to ensure accuracy, accessibility, consistency and editorial quality
• Establishing success measures for communications activity and using data to monitor and continuously improve performance
• Taking ownership of communication deliverables and ensuring outputs are completed accurately, to a high standard and within agreed timescales

What We're Looking For
You will be an accomplished communications professional with a proven track record of delivering internal communications, stakeholder engagement or change communications within a complex organisation.
You will bring:

• Demonstrable success in internal communications, engagement or change management
• Experience working within an agile, project-based environment
• Exceptional written, verbal and editorial skills
• The ability to simplify complex technical or operational information for diverse audiences
• Strong stakeholder management, influencing and negotiation skills
• Confidence presenting to large audiences and facilitating workshops
• Experience developing communication strategies, plans and audience-focused content
• Advanced presentation and briefing-material development skills
• Strong storytelling, proofreading and content-development capability
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to deliver rapid, practical solutions
• Experience tracking communication activity and reporting on progress and impact
• An understanding of visual communication, accessibility, information hierarchy and audience-centred design

Digital and Creative Capability
You should be confident working across contemporary communications channels and creating visually engaging content.Experience may include:

• Social media planning and content delivery
• Content management systems and web publishing
• Video and digital content production
• Online engagement platforms such as Zoom, Mural or Miro
• Visual content and design tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent platforms

Essential Experience

• Leading stakeholder engagement through internal or change-related communications
• Delivering employee engagement and face-to-face communication activity
• Contributing to communications and engagement strategies in the public or private sector
• Creating presentations, executive briefings, information packs and other stakeholder materials
• Transforming detailed technical or operational information into accessible content for different audiences

Desirable ExperienceThe following would be advantageous but is not essential:

• IOIC accreditation
• CIPR membership or accreditation
• Experience within the higher education sector
• Familiarity with business improvement and agile ways of working
• Experience supporting large-scale technology, transformation or business-change programmes
• Experience working within corporate branding, visual identity and communications style guidelines
