Deputy Nursery Manager – Shiregreen

The Role:
As Deputy Nursery Manager, you’ll work closely with the Nursery Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our Shiregreen setting. Our nursery has a Good Ofsted rating and is based in a beautiful building with fantastic outdoor spaces. We’re committed to providing the highest standards of care, education, environments and customer service.
You’ll help lead a team that delivers exciting and meaningful experiences for children and families, while supporting the Nursery Manager in driving the nursery forward.
You’ll have the opportunity to support an enhanced programme of extracurricular activities and experiences, including:
• Stay and play sessions.
• Intergenerational care.
• Woodwork.
• Forest School.
• Mini Master Chefs.
• Music and dance.
• Language programmes.
• Active sports sessions.
We also believe our leaders should have the freedom to be creative. You and the Nursery Manager will have autonomy over your own budget, with support available if you’re developing your experience in budget management.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support all aspects of nursery operations, ensuring the highest standards of care, education and customer service.
• Support the Nursery Manager in leading, supervising and developing the team.
• Help develop and implement strategies to maximise occupancy and revenue.
• Monitor and support budget management.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure nursery documentation is kept up to date.
• Support the development and implementation of best practice across the nursery.
• Support staff training, meetings, workshops and open days.
• Help maintain the nursery’s estates, environments and aesthetics to a high standard.
• Support marketing and promotional activity to attract new families.
• Help build the nursery’s brand, reputation and community partnerships.
• Support events and initiatives that promote community cohesion and care for the environment.
• Attend monthly meetings.
• Support the delivery of creative, exciting and meaningful experiences for children.
• Work collaboratively with the Nursery Manager to continuously improve the nursery.
What We’re Looking For:
We’re looking for an organised, trustworthy and committed early years professional who is ready to make a genuine difference. You’ll need excellent leadership and communication skills, alongside a passion for reflective practice and professional development.
Essential:
• Minimum 1 year’s experience in an early years leadership position.
• Level 3 Childcare & Development qualification listed on the recognised Early Years qualifications checklist.
• Strong knowledge of Early Years legislation and Ofsted requirements.
• Understanding of safeguarding, SEND, health & safety and food hygiene requirements.
• Excellent organisational and multitasking skills.
• Ability to prioritise effectively and remain calm in a busy environment.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Good computer literacy and confidence using Microsoft programmes.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow nursery policies and procedures.
• English GCSE or equivalent.
• Willingness to obtain Maths GCSE or equivalent if not already held.
Desirable:
• Full UK driving licence.
• Experience with budget management.
• Experience using nursery management systems such as Famly.
• Experience supporting marketing, occupancy and community engagement.
