Student Specialist Practitioner District Nurse

£32.07k - £39.04k per annum
Full-time
Job summary

Please note: at this stage, the role is open only to colleagues currently employed within Kent and Medway NHS Trusts, the Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board (ICB) and Medway Community Healthcare. Nursing vacancies are also open to Student Nurses and Newly Qualified Nurses.

KCHFT is seeking ambitious Registered Adult Nurses who are passionate about developing their careers while contributing to our reputation for high-quality community healthcare. This is an excellent opportunity to expand your skills and experience across a range of community settings, working within our Integrated Neighbourhood Teams.

We're offering a 12-month, full-time Specialist Practitioner Qualification ( District Nursing), with vacancies available across East and West Kent and academic support provided by the University of Greenwich. On successful completion, you will progress into a Band 6 Qualified Specialist Practitioner District Nurse role. Existing Band 6 staff will retain their Band 6 salary throughout the programme.

You will be supported to develop as a clinical leader, delivering high-quality patient care, driving innovation, and contributing to an inclusive and supportive culture. You will also have opportunities to influence service development and make a meaningful difference to the communities we serve.

If you're committed to putting patients first, supporting people to live well for longer, and playing a key role in the future of community healthcare, we would love to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

We're looking for motivated and compassionate Registered Nurses who are passionate about delivering high-quality community care and developing as future clinical leaders.

To apply, you must:
  • Be a Registered Nurse with at least 12 months' Community Nursing experience.
  • Be an active NMC Mentor, Practice Assessor or Practice Supervisor.
  • Demonstrate recent professional development relevant to your clinical area.
We're interested in nurses who can:
  • Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to promote health, wellbeing and integrated care.
  • Demonstrate the ambition to develop their leadership skills and improve healthcare delivery within local communities.
  • Show awareness of current practice, policy and emerging developments relevant to their specialty.
This is an exciting time to join Community Nursing. As more care is delivered closer to home, you'll play a key role in helping people receive the right care, in the right place, at the right time. From preventing unnecessary hospital admissions and supporting people with long-term conditions to providing high-quality end-of-life care, you'll work in partnership with patients, families and carers to achieve the best possible outcomes.

As this is a funded educational development opportunity, applicants must have the full and unrestricted right to work in the UK for the duration of the programme. Unfortunately, we are unable to consider applications from individuals who require visa sponsorship at this time.

About us

Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust is due to integrate with Medway Community Healthcare on 1 October 2026. Depending on the area you are applying to work in, this could include potential changes to your role, work base, reporting arrangements, or terms and conditions of employment. Any changes would be subject to consultation and managed sensitively and in line with relevant employment processes. Please do contact the recruiting manager if you have any concerns about this so they can answer any questions you might have.
