Job Title: Quality & Technical Manager
Reports to: Operations DirectorDepartment: Operations / Technical About the Role We are a leading bakery and snack food manufacturer committed to delivering high-quality, great-tasting products. The Quality & Technical Manager plays a key role in maintaining and improving our quality, technical, and food safety standards across the business. This role is central to ensuring compliance, driving continuous improvement, and supporting a strong quality culture throughout the site. Job Purpose To lead and manage all quality and technical systems, ensuring compliance with relevant food safety standards, strengthening operational processes, and supporting product excellence across production. Key Responsibilities Quality Management Systems
Maintain and continuously improve the Quality Management System and technical documentation
Ensure all procedures are clearly communicated, trained, and embedded across teams
Drive a strong site-wide quality culture HACCP & Food Safety
Lead the HACCP team, ensuring regular reviews and continuous improvement
Maintain HACCP systems in line with best practice and audit requirements Customer & Technical Support
Act as the main technical contact for customers, handling audits, queries, complaints, and specification changes
Manage complaint investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions Product Development (NPD/EPD)
Support and lead NPD and EPD activity in collaboration with operations and commercial teams Testing & Compliance
Manage micro testing, shelf life validation, swabbing, and hygiene verification
Ensure compliance with internal and external standards Audits & Suppliers
Lead customer and external audits, ensuring readiness and corrective actions are completed
Maintain supplier approval and audit records Specifications & Packaging
Create, review, and maintain product specifications (raw materials, internal, and customer-facing)
Carry out packaging artwork and label compliance checks against legal and customer requirements Operational Improvement
Support efficiency initiatives including waste reduction, systems improvement, and process optimisation General Responsibilities
Respond quickly to quality or technical issues and lead resolution
Support compliance with company policies and procedures
Undertake training and development as required
Support wider business needs where appropriate Person Specification (Summary) Experience in a food manufacturing quality/technical role
Strong understanding of HACCP, food safety systems, and audit standards
Experience managing customer technical relationships and complaints
Knowledge of NPD/EPD and product specification management
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
Ability to influence and drive quality culture across a site
