Head of Client Risk Management - London

Payments | Client Risk | KYC/KYB | Partner Oversight

This is a senior leadership role within a growing payments business, responsible for how enterprise clients and partners are assessed, onboarded and managed throughout the relationship.

The remit is broader than KYC or Financial Crime. You will oversee client risk across financial crime, business model risk, financial resilience, operational resilience plus conduct risk.

The Role

You will:

• Lead and develop the Client Risk Management team

• Own the due diligence approach across enterprise and partner models

• Assess new clients and partners, supporting onboarding and risk acceptance decisions

• Oversee ongoing client and partner risk, including remediation and exit recommendations

• Own the Client Selection & Exit Management Committee

• Improve onboarding, controls and partner oversight through better processes, data and technology

• Use AI and automation to improve client risk assessment

• Work closely with Sales, Product, Operations, Onboarding plus Risk & Compliance

• Build KPIs, QA frameworks and training to improve team performance and customer outcomes

What We Are Looking For

You should bring strong experience across:

• Client lifecycle risk management from onboarding through to ongoing monitoring and exit

• KYC, KYB, CDD and EDD

• Embedded payments, partner, white label or distribution model risk

• Risk frameworks across financial crime, business model, resilience and conduct

• Senior risk governance, risk appetite and material decision making

• Board level stakeholder management plus FCA or regulatory engagement

• Leading teams and improving operational performance

Experience at SMF level or equivalent would be highly relevant.

This will suit someone who can combine strong risk judgement with a commercial mindset and help the business grow without creating unnecessary friction.
