PRINCIPAL FOOD AND AGRICULTURAL STANDARDS OFFICER
£49,282 Full time, 37 hours per week, Permanent
An opportunity has arisen to join the Trading Standards Team, reporting to the Public Health and Protection Service Manager within the Public Protection Division of Rhondda Cynon Taf.
We are seeking an enthusiastic officer who has proven capabilities to
- Organise and Deliver the Authority’s work in relation to Food and Agricultural Standards and Animal Health and Welfare
- Provide operational day-to-day management control, supervision, training and support of a specialised team including Trading Standards Officers, Senior Fair-Trading Officers, Fair Trading Officers, Animal Health Officers and Specialist Technical & Support staff. These responsibilities include the allocation and monitoring of workloads and related personnel issues such as the management of sickness absence and routine disciplinary matters.
- Provide the necessary professional expertise and experience to deal with the more difficult cases and problems that require an in-depth or prolonged investigation.
- To deputise for the Service Manager in their absence.
The authority offers flexible working and agile/hybrid working across the Authority to meet the demands of Service, the successful candidate must be willing to work outside of normal office hours and have the ability to travel independently to meet the demands of the post.
Applicants must hold the Diploma in Trading Standards (DTS), or Diploma in Consumer Affairs including the Food and Agriculture Module (DCA), or Diploma in Consumer Affairs & Trading Standards (minimum 40 points in criminal modules) including Food Standards and Agricultural Standards or equivalent baseline qualifications to meet the Food Law and Feed Law Codes of Practice.
