Job summary
Alliance Psychological Services is an independent provider of counselling and psychological therapy services in the Tees Valley area, working across the North-East region. We work in partnership with Teesside Mind to deliver the IMPACT on Teesside service.

We are recruiting multiple High Intensity CBT (HICBT) training posts to undertake the Postgraduate Diploma in CBT course. Successful applicants will attend Teesside University from 2nd week in January 2027. They will be expected to start the role prior to training to allow time for a comprehensive induction. They will attend University and allocated study leave through term time & carry an appropriate clinical caseload. Salary starts at £31000 increasing to £38000 once qualified.

These roles are not remote contracts, face to face work is expected throughout Teesside

Please ensure you meet the High Intensity IAPT CBT Trainee recruitment requirements or you will not be considered. You must have a core profession as recognised by BABCP see BABCP for list of recognised core professions.

If you are a PWP without a core profession you must have PWP registration with BABCP and have a minimum of 2 years post qualification PWP experience working as a PWP (please note this is 2 years post board confirmation of qualifications).

If you are a counsellor you must have a minimum 2 years post qualification experience and be Accredited or eligible for Accreditation prior to beginning the course without accreditation in place you would need to complete the KSA route.

If you are invited to interview for the role you must bring with you any academic qualifications certificates and evidence you hold as applicable.

Job Outline

The Postholder will provide a range of evidence-based psychological interventions within the framework of NHS Talking Therapies for anxiety and depression as part of of Impacts Service across the Tees area. The post-holder will work within the service providing high intensity interventions whilst undertaking a university-based programme of training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy CBT.

The post-holder will work as part of the Impact Clinical team whilst attending the training programme. They will provide a range of evidence-based psychological interventions within the framework of the NHS Talking Therapies for anxiety and depression programme as part of Impacts Team serving GP Practices across the NHS Tees area.

This position requires flexible hours between 8am until 8pm weekdays with the expectation of at least one evening clinic until 8pm as part of the agreed workplan. The service offers a hybrid style of therapy delivery with a mix of face to face and remote working in line with service needs

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• To work as a member of the Impact Service Team
• To create and maintain effective working relationships within the Impact Team and elsewhere.
• To offer advice and support to other members of the wider Primary Care Team, including GPs and other Health Professionals, on mental health issues, and in relation to appropriate referral pathways for patients with mental health needs.
• To liaise effectively with Secondary Care and voluntary sector organisations and services
• To attend meetings and provide reports as required.
• To assist in the development and promotion of the service
• To provide a range of therapeutic interventions
• To provide assessment, including risk assessment, of clients referred for psychological therapy within the Primary Care setting.
• To select and deliver a range of appropriate therapeutic interventions in collaboration with the client.
• To work within an appropriate time framework
• To make appropriate onward referrals following assessment for clients requiring other services, including statutory and voluntary agencies
• To maintain clients confidentiality within agreed guidelines
• To undertake the required training programme
• To attend and fulfil all the requirements of the training element of the post. NB Satisfactory completion of the training programme is a condition of continued employment.
• To apply learning from the training programme in practice
• To attend university-based supervision in relation to course work to meet the required standards.
• To work with an appropriate range and number of cases selected with the support of their Clinical Supervisor as suitable for the current stage of clinical skills development.

Qualifications
Essential

• Core profession as recognised by BABCP or
• Degree or higher award in counselling or counselling psychology or recognised training or qualification in a major psychological therapy approach or Qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner
