Youth Mentor

We are seeking a passionate and compassionate Youth Mentor to join our team in Shrewsbury, supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is committed to helping young people overcome challenges, build confidence, and reach their full potential. As a Youth Mentor, you will play a key role in guiding and supporting students in both their personal development and educational journey. Key Responsibilities Provide 1:1 and small group mentoring to young people with SEND and SEMH needsSupport students in developing confidence, resilience, and positive social skillsHelp individuals overcome barriers to learning and personal developmentEncourage positive decision-making, goal setting, and self-beliefCreate a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment that promotes wellbeingWork collaboratively with teachers, families, and external professionals to implement personalised support plansDeliver targeted interventions and activities focused on emotional regulation and behaviour management What We’re Looking For A genuine passion for supporting young people with SEND and SEMH needsExcellent communication, mentoring, and relationship-building skillsThe ability to build trust and rapport with young people from diverse backgroundsExperience working with SEND or SEMH students in mentoring, youth work, education, or support roles (desirable)Empathy, patience, and resilience when working in challenging situationsA positive and motivating approach that inspires young people to succeed Why Join Us?
