The Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS) is on the frontline of the NHS, dispatching immediate medical assistance or clinical advice to over 5 million people across Scotland. SAS aims to offer the highest level of care to patients and to preserve life and promote recovery, with a skilled workforce bringing care and compassion to the people we serve.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our existing team of GP Advisors who work within the Integrated Clinical Hub. The Integrated Clinical Hub has become well established over the last 4 years and comprises a multidisciplinary team of clinical advisors, advanced practitioners and GPs. It provides assessments for all patients who are initially triaged as non-immediately life threatening and who may benefit from further virtual consultation in order to deliver the right care at the right time.

Patients who contact SAS often have complex urgent care needs and require trained and confident clinicians to deliver patient-centred and value-based care ensuring high quality and realistic outcomes.

To support this work, SAS is seeking to add to our established team of GP Advisors, and we are seeking GPs who are currently licensed to practice, on the Scottish Performers List and have provided GMP services in Scotland within the last 6 months. These doctors will nurture and develop sound and innovative choices as part of our front-line organisation.

The role will include telephone triage and video consultations directly with patients, as well as prof-2-prof advice to staff on the ground. Outcomes may range from self-care (including remote prescription) to conveyance to ED, as well as exploring alternatives to admission for appropriate patients.

A range of shifts are on offer from two Ambulance Control Centres and once confident, remote home working. There is a provision of services agreement in place to reflect sessional (ad hoc) work. Rates of pay for this will be discussed with interested parties. Current gaps in our workforce include daytime and evening shifts throughout the week including weekends so we would look favorably on those candidates willing to offer work at these times.

29 th – 31 st July Ambulance Control Center (West), Glasgow/Paisley

26 th -28 th August Ambulance Control Centre (East), Edinburgh

You will be paid to attend this course, but no travel costs will be reimbursed.
