Job summary
Due to significant service investment we are looking for enthusiastic Occupational Therapists to join our friendly Children's Therapy team in Worcestershire. The successful candidates will be working alongside a dynamic team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Assistant Practitioners and Specialist Play Nursery Nurses providing a community service to children and young people with a variety of needs. The post holders would be based at one of our three bases (located in Kidderminster, Worcester or Bromsgrove) and will be required to travel across the county. The service works closely with mainstream and special schools, child development centres and family hubs as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure childrens needs are identified and supported across the system. It is an exciting time of service development whilst we move towards implementing the balanced system across therapy services and a link therapy model. We are a fantastic team offering a variety of opportunities for learning, CPD, multi-disciplinary working and have a strong focus on supervision.

We are looking for an ambitious and experienced Paediatric Occupational Therapist who can support the leadership of the Occupational Therapy team.

The post holder will be supported by Team Leads and Service Leads with plenty of opportunities for career development.

Main duties of the job
This exciting role involves being a key member of the Children's Occupational Therapy leadership and clinical team helping to shape OT across the county.

To lead and be responsible for members of the Childrens Occupational Therapy team, evaluating and planning services and working closely and proactively with other agencies and professionals.

To ensure effective induction, supervision/appraisal and training of qualified and non-qualified (support staff and students) within the Childrens Therapy Team.

To provide expert advice and guidance to patients, carers, professionals and schools.

To work closely with the wider MDT to ensure effective collaboration and joined up thinking around service development.

To maintain high professional standards, continuously promoting and developing the occupational therapy profession and our service.

To implement department and trust objectives working alongside the other therapy team leads, service lead and clinical services manager.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
  • Diploma / Degree in OT or equivalent qualification.
  • Postgraduate training relevant to specialist area.
  • BAOT membership.
  • HCPC registration.
  • I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer.
Experience
Essential
  • Working in paediatric settings e.g. community, child development centres and mainstream / special schools.
  • Managing a caseload.
  • Use of standardised and non standardised assessment tools.
  • Setting up rehabilitation programmes.
  • Recruitment and selection.
  • Working in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Provision of equipment and adaptations.
