SEN Teaching Assistant – 1:1 Support

Academics are currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a pupil within a welcoming primary school in Eastbourne.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant or someone with a strong background in SEN who is passionate about making a positive difference to a child's education and development.
The Role
Working closely with the class teacher and wider SEN team, you will provide tailored 1:1 support to help the pupil access learning, develop their confidence and thrive within the school environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Providing dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day
* Supporting the pupil to access the curriculum and participate in classroom activities
* Developing positive and trusting relationships with the pupil
* Supporting their social, emotional and academic development
* Helping to manage behaviour and implement individual support strategies
* Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO
* Encouraging independence and confidence
* Providing a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment
The Ideal Candidate
The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will:
* Have previous experience working with children or young people with SEN
* Have experience providing 1:1 support or working in a similar support role
* Have a patient, calm and nurturing approach
* Be confident supporting pupils with additional needs
* Have excellent communication and teamwork skills
* Be committed to helping children achieve their full potential
* Have a genuine passion for working within education and supporting SEN pupils
Experience supporting children with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, Global Developmental Delay or other additional needs would be advantageous.
