Class 2 HGV Driver - Shrewsbury

We are currently undergoing recruitment for a Class 2 HGV Driver to join our client in the Shrewsbury area.
- £14.00 per hour
- Full Time
- Additional ‘Nights Out’ allowance
- Truck is a MAN TGL-280 18 Ton Sleeper Curtain with Taillift.
- Opportunities to progress to Class 1 driving as the fleet grows.
Main roles and responsibilities:
- Safely operate Class 2 curtain-side lorries, adhering to all UK and EU driving regulations.
- Transport goods and materials to various locations across the UK and occasionally to international exhibitions.
- Ensure safe loading, securing, and unloading of goods using the taillift and curtain-side system.
- Perform daily vehicle checks and report any maintenance or mechanical issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate delivery records and vehicle logs in compliance with regulations.
- Plan routes efficiently to meet delivery schedules while ensuring safety and fuel efficiency.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and colleagues.
- Adhere to all health and safety procedures during transport and loading operations.
Skills and Requirements
- Valid UK HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence.
- Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card (preferred).
- Minimum 5 years’ driving experience (commercial driving experience essential).
- Familiarity with curtain-side lorries and load securing procedures.
- Clean driving record with excellent road awareness and safety focus.
- Physically fit and capable of handling loading/unloading duties.
- Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently while managing time effectively.
- Class 1 licence is beneficial but not essential.
