A well-respected art and design college in Kensington seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic Textiles Specialist to join its dynamic faculty. This is a full-time, permanent position offering the chance to nurture a love for textiles, design, and practical skills within a supportive and inspiring environment.

About the Role:

• Design and deliver engaging and informative textiles lessons across all relevant courses (consider mentioning specific programs if applicable, e.g., Fashion Design, Textiles Arts).
• Cultivate a stimulating and well-equipped studio environment that fosters exploration, experimentation, and a love for textile design and creation.
• Guide students in developing a comprehensive understanding of textile techniques, materials, design principles, and historical and contemporary influences.
• Prepare students for success in portfolios, coursework assessments, and external examinations (if applicable).
• Collaborate with colleagues in the Art & Design department to create a cohesive curriculum and contribute to college-wide events and exhibitions.
• Offer guidance and support to students on industry-standard equipment and processes (e.g., sewing machines, looms, printing techniques).
• Maintain a safe and well-organized studio environment, ensuring proper use and care of equipment and materials.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Possesses a relevant qualification in Textiles, Fashion Design, or a closely related field, with significant teaching experience (QTS desirable).
• Demonstrates a strong passion for textiles and a captivating teaching style that inspires creativity and technical skill development.
• Excels in communication, interpersonal skills, and classroom management within a creative learning environment.
• Possesses a strong practical understanding of a wide range of textile techniques and processes.
• Ability to operate and maintain industry-standard textile equipment.
