Qualified Teaching Assistant – PRU School | Ferryhill | September Start Do you have the resilience, patience, and confidence to support young people with complex behavioural and emotional needs? We are recruiting a Qualified Teaching Assistant to join a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Ferryhill from September. This rewarding role involves supporting pupils who have been excluded from mainstream education and display challenging behaviour linked to SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs. The Role As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who require additional support to manage their emotions, regulate their behaviour, and engage positively with learning. Building strong, trusting relationships will be key to helping pupils achieve success both academically and personally. Key Responsibilities Supporting pupils with SEMH and behavioural needsManaging and responding to challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent mannerPromoting positive behaviour and emotional regulationDelivering interventions and supporting learning activitiesWorking collaboratively with teachers, pastoral teams, and external professionalsActing as a positive role model for pupils Requirements Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)Previous experience supporting young people with SEMH or challenging behaviourStrong communication and relationship-building skillsExcellent emotional resilience and patienceA proactive and non-judgemental approach Why Work with Protocol Education?
