Hurworth School is seeking to appoint an exceptional Assistant Head Teacher to join our senior leadership team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly effective school leader who is passionate about securing the very best outcomes for young people.

Working closely with the Head Teacher and wider leadership team, you will play a key role in the strategic leadership and operational management of the school, with specific responsibility for leading and securing the Quality of Education across the school. You will drive excellence in teaching and learning, ensure consistently high standards of classroom practice, promote a positive and inclusive school culture, and lead key areas of whole-school improvement.

We are looking for a leader who combines high expectations with the ability to inspire, support and challenge others. You will be an excellent classroom practitioner with a strong understanding of effective teaching and learning and a proven ability to translate ambition into sustained improvement.

The successful candidate will:

• be an outstanding and credible classroom practitioner;
• have successful leadership experience and evidence of making a positive and measurable impact;
• demonstrate a strong understanding of teaching, learning and school improvement;
• be able to coach, develop and inspire colleagues at all stages of their careers;

• contribute to a positive culture of high expectations, excellent behaviour and strong relationships;
• use evidence, data and evaluation effectively to identify priorities and secure improvement; 
• demonstrate excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills;
• be committed to the wellbeing, safeguarding and success of every pupil; and
• share our ambition for the continued success and development of Hurworth School.
