Level 3 Teaching Assistant – Physical & Medical Needs

Protocol Education are seeking a Level 3 Teaching Assistant to work within a specialist Gateshead provision supporting children and young people with physical and/or medical needs .
This is an opportunity to work in a specialist environment where no two days are necessarily the same. Alongside supporting pupils in their learning, you'll develop experience with assistive technology, specialist equipment and alternative communication .
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Supporting pupils with a range of physical and medical needs.
- Helping pupils engage with classroom activities.
- Adapting activities to meet individual needs.
- Promoting independence and self-confidence.
- Supporting the use of assistive technology.
- Setting up and checking specialist equipment.
- Supporting accessible ICT.
- Supporting alternative communication methods.
- Identifying and troubleshooting basic equipment issues.
- Supporting safe positioning, movement and access.
- Following individual health and support plans.
- Working closely with teachers and specialist professionals.
- Recording observations and monitoring progress.
- Sharing relevant feedback with the wider team.
Essential Criteria
- Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
- Experience working in SEND or specialist education.
- Experience supporting children with physical and/or medical needs.
- Good ICT skills.
- Confidence working with technology and specialist equipment.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organisation and attention to detail.
- Flexible approach to working across settings.
- Full, clean driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position.
