Salary: £460 - £600 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time
Start Date: September 2026 Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs? A welcoming school in the Barnsley area is looking for dedicated SEMH Support Staff to join their team from September. About the Role: As a member of the SEMH Support team, you will work closely with pupils who require additional emotional and behavioural support to access learning successfully. You will provide one-to-one and small group support, encourage positive engagement in lessons and help pupils develop confidence, resilience and self-regulation. Working alongside teachers and pastoral staff, you will play a key role in creating a safe, structured and supportive learning environment. With a strong focus on wellbeing, positive relationships and personalised support, staff work collaboratively to help pupils overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential. Responsibilities: * Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs. * Encourage positive behaviour and engagement throughout the school day. * Support pupils with emotional regulation and social development. * Work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to implement individual support strategies. * Help maintain a calm, safe and structured learning environment. * Record observations and share relevant feedback with the wider school team. Requirements: * Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable. * Experience supporting individuals with SEMH or additional needs is advantageous. * Strong communication and interpersonal skills. * A patient, resilient and empathetic approach. * Ability to remain calm in challenging situations. * A genuine commitment to helping young people achieve positive outcomes.
