French Teacher - Birmingham - ECTs Welcome
We are pleased to be working with a thriving mixed secondary school in the Birmingham area seeking to appoint an Early Career French Teacher beginning January . This is a full-time, permanent role teaching Key Stages 3–5 , including GCSE and A-Level French (or working toward that).
About the Role
You will deliver engaging, communicative French lessons that foster fluency, cultural awareness, and confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. The modern languages department offers digital language labs, audio-visual resources, and immersive language software. As an ECT, you’ll receive structured induction and mentorship, with support from an experienced team. There is scope to contribute to language clubs, exchange programmes, and cross-curricular language projects.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds QTS, PGCE , or an equivalent qualification
- Demonstrates strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for French / Modern Languages
- Is ready to teach GCSE French (and begin working toward A-Level)
- Is reflective, creative, organised, and student-centred
- Has the legal right to work in the UK
The School
This school is located in Sutton Coldfield and serves around 1,100 students aged 11–18. It has an academic reputation for strong student progress; its Progress 8 score is +0.41, meaning students make above-average gains relative to their peers nationally. French is a valued subject in the curriculum, with regular uptake in both GCSE and levels beyond.
