CONTRACT TYPE: Permanent

HOURS OF WORK: 40 hours per week, Mon-Fri

SALARY: £32,500 - £37,500 per annum plus a competitive bonus scheme

LOCATION: Hybrid working - between home and Newcastle office

A vacancy has arisen for a Sales Consultant to join our team within our Waste Management Services contract within Hargreaves Industrial Services.

The Sales Consultant will play a key role in supporting revenue generation, customer retention, and new business acquisition-particularly within Tier 3 accounts. The role supports the wider commercial team and works closely with the Business Development Manager, including occasional client visits to build relationships and support deal progression.

The purpose of the role is to maximise customer attraction, retention, divisional revenue, and profitability by delivering excellent customer service across all tiers while actively hunting and converting new business opportunities, particularly within Tier 3 customers.

The role briefly encompasses the following duties: -

Proactively generate new business opportunities, with a strong focus on Tier 3 "hunting" activity

Support the management and growth of existing customer accounts across all tiers through high-quality service delivery

Act as a primary point of contact for nominated customers, ensuring strong relationship management

Provide desk-based sales support while accompanying the BDM on selected client visits when required

Handle inbound and outbound sales activity, including lead generation, follow-ups, and pipeline management

Ensure all customer interactions are accurate, compliant, and commercially sound

Process and fulfil customer orders efficiently and within agreed timelines

Resolve customer enquiries and complaints promptly, escalating where necessary

Prepare quotes, proposals, presentations, and contracts for both internal and external stakeholders

Increase both existing and new business sales

Be the primary point of contact for nominated customer related enquiries

Fulfil orders in a timely and efficient manner

Field customer enquiries, resolve any customer complaints and escalate when required

Prepare presentations, proposals, and sales contracts to be delivered to internal and external parties and stakeholders

Champion and become involved in compliance & SHE initiatives

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills/experience/ attributes:-

Essentials:

o Proven track record in a commercial, telesales, or desk-based sales environment

o Strong communication and relationship-building skills

o High level of organisation and administrative capability

o Commercial awareness and negotiation skills

o Full UK driving licence

Desirables:

o Experience within the waste management or environmental services industry

Knowledge of waste streams, compliance, and service solutions

Results-driven with a proactive "hunter" mindset

Strong customer focus with the ability to manage multiple accounts effectively

Resilient and self-motivated with a positive attitude

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Attention to detail and accuracy

Ability to prioritise workload and manage time effectively in a fast-paced, desk-based role

Team player with the ability to collaborate with BDMs and internal teams

Problem-solving mindset with a focus on delivering solutions for customers
