As our business continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to support our Finance Team remotely from the Western Cape, South Africa.

Role Overview

The Bookkeeper will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business, ensuring accurate financial records are maintained and providing administrative support to the wider finance team.

The successful candidate will be highly organised, experienced in bookkeeping practices, and confident using Xero on a daily basis.

Key Responsibilities

• Process supplier invoices and payments accurately and efficiently.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
• Complete daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations.
• Maintain accurate financial records using Xero.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies.
• Assist with month-end and year-end finance processes.
• Monitor outstanding invoices and follow up on overdue payments.
• Prepare financial reports and summaries for management review.
• Maintain organised electronic records and filing systems.
• Support payroll administration and finance-related tasks where required.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and financial procedures.
• Provide general administrative support to the Finance Team.
• Assist with ad hoc projects and tasks as required.

Essential Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Minimum 3 years' experience within an accounting practice, bookkeeping firm, or similar finance environment.
• Strong working knowledge of Xero (essential).
• Experience managing reconciliations, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
• Excellent administrative and organisational skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
• Reliable internet connection and suitable home working setup.
• Currently residing within the Western Cape, South Africa.

Desirable Criteria

• Qualification in Bookkeeping, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience working with UK-based businesses.
• Payroll administration experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Matric / High School Diploma.
