What's the role?
The Commercial & Sales Trainee will participate in a structured 24-month development programme designed to build the skills, knowledge and behaviours required for a successful career in commercial and sales roles. The elements of the programme are set out in the key responsibilities below.
Successful trainees will be well positioned to progress into roles within Sales, Commercial Operations or other commercial roles across the organization. Full training and mentoring will be provided, and travel will be required to undertake the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate fully in the structured Commercial & Sales Trainee Programme.
- Complete all assigned training modules, assessments and development activities.
- Develop a strong understanding of the company's products, service offerings, customers, markets and competitive landscape.
- Support the Commercial Operations team with quotations, tenders and customer enquiries.
- Assist in the preparation of sales and commercial documentation.
- Learn commercial governance, contract processes and approval procedures.
- Support the preparation of customer proposals, presentations and quotations
- Analyse market trends, customer requirements and emerging opportunities to support business growth.
- Build positive relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Support customer engagement through meetings, calls and written communication.
- Support achievement of team sales and business growth targets
- Monitor sales activities and progress against agreed performance objectives.
- Maintain a healthy pipeline of potential opportunities.
What are we looking for
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- High levels of motivation and resilience
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Basic IT proficiency (MS Office; CRM exposure desirable)
- Willingness to learn and develop in a sales and commercial environment
- Degree or equivalent experience (business, engineering, or related field)
- Previous customer-facing or sales experience
- Interest in engineering / energy industry
