Specialist Screening Nurse
£39.96k - £48.12k per annumPart-time
Job summary
This is a demanding but satisfying role providing AAA surveillance screening, clinical assessments, health promotion and risk reduction advice to men with newly diagnosed AAAs and reviews of existing surveillance subjects. The successful candidates will be a registered nurse, ideally, with significant experience in Vascular Surgery, AAA management and surveillance. The ability to perform ultrasound scanning would be advantageous, as would experience of working in an AAA screening programme, but not essential. As there is a mandatory requirement to deliver face to face assessment clinics across the whole geographical area the work involves a lot of driving. This includes motorway driving. If not already achieved, there is an expectation the successful candidate will complete the Vascular Specialist Nurse competencies within the first year of employment as well as commencing study for the Level 3 Health Screener Diploma (HSD) and completing this within 2 years. You will have a clean driving license and access to a car which is fully insured for business use. To enable maximum uptake of the specialist nurse assessment the hours will need to be worked flexibly across the month: Monday-Friday 8.00am-8.00pm. Shift durations may occasionally vary between 4 and 9.25 hours and there may be a future requirement to work Saturdays. Main duties of the job
Provide health promotion by identifying and advising on achievable interventions with the screening subject on risk reduction strategies such as smoking cessation, initiation of/ compliance with secondary prophylaxis with Best Medical Therapy, compliance with any other medication they are on. Promotion of healthy lifestyle, exercise and diet. Check BP and BMI of subjects on F2F clinical reviews. To scan surveillance subjects. If not already trained will need to undertake the Level 3 Health Screener Diploma (HSD) and maintain competencies. About us
The Humber Health Partnership is one of the largest acute and community Partnership arrangements in the NHS, seeing well over one million patients every year and managing a budget of over £1.3 billion. Made up of two Trusts - Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLAG) and Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (HUTH) - our Partnership has significant ambitions and is committed to delivering world-class hospital and community services for the 1.65 million people we serve. Together we employ nearly 20,000 staff. Our five main hospital sites are Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Scunthorpe General Hospital and Goole and District Hospital, for NLAG and Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital for HUTH. As Teaching Hospitals working with the Hull York Medical School, we both lead and contribute to research in many areas - biomedical research, primary care, palliative medicine, cardiovascular and respiratory medicine, vascular surgery, cancer surgery and oncology. We believe that by developing a diverse, inclusive, innovative, skilled and caring workforce, we can deliver excellent care to our patients and a great future for our employees, our Partnership and our community.
