English Teacher - Grammar School, Northamptonshire
A high-performing grammar school in Northamptonshire is seeking a skilled English Teacher to join its department from September. This full-time role suits a teacher who enjoys stretching able students and fostering a genuine enthusiasm for literature and language.
About the Role You will teach English Language and Literature across KS3, KS4, and KS5, with a curriculum designed to challenge high-attaining students and prepare them for demanding examinations and university study.
Key Responsibilities
Teach English Language and Literature across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level English examinations
Stretch and challenge high-attaining students through ambitious texts and tasks
Provide detailed feedback to support progress towards top grades
Support extracurricular activities such as debating or creative writing societies
Contribute to curriculum and assessment development

Candidate Requirements
Essential
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Strong subject knowledge across KS3, KS4, and KS5 English
Experience teaching English at secondary level
Ability to challenge and stretch high-attaining students
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level English Literature or Language
Experience supporting university application preparation
Interest in leading debating, journalism, or writing clubs
