DT Teacher with TLR - Secondary School in Southampton -...
A well-regarded secondary school in Southampton is seeking a talented and ambitious Design & Technology Teacher to join its DT department from April 2026, with a TLR available for the right candidate. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced DT specialist looking to take on additional responsibility within a supportive and forward-thinking school.
Design & Technology is a valued subject within the school, with strong uptake at GCSE and a clear focus on practical learning, creativity, and technical skill development.
The Role
Teaching Design & Technology across KS3 and KS4, with KS5 depending on specialism
Taking on additional leadership responsibilities in line with the TLR (e.g. Key Stage Lead, curriculum responsibility, or subject specialism lead)
Supporting curriculum planning and development within the department
Driving high standards of teaching, learning, and assessment
Supporting colleagues through collaboration and sharing best practice
Maintaining high standards of health and safety within workshops
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
A degree in Design & Technology or a related subject
Experience teaching DT at secondary level
Strong subject knowledge in one or more DT specialisms
Experience contributing to curriculum development or leading an area within a department
High expectations for pupil engagement, behaviour, and progress
