Year 2 Teacher - Norwich

We are seeking a passionate, enthusiastic, and experienced Year 2 Teacher to join a supportive and inclusive primary school in Norwich, starting as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is committed to delivering high-quality lessons that challenge and inspire pupils academically, socially, and emotionally in Key Stage 1.

The school has a strong ethos of inclusion, collaboration, and pupil wellbeing. Staff work together to create a structured, stimulating, and nurturing environment where children feel confident, secure, and motivated to learn. Senior leadership is approachable and supportive, offering mentoring, guidance, and professional development opportunities to help staff thrive.

The Role

As a Year 2 Teacher, you will plan, deliver, and assess lessons across the Key Stage 1 curriculum. You will foster independence, resilience, and a love of learning while ensuring that every child receives the support they need to reach their full potential. You will work closely with teaching assistants, colleagues, and parents to ensure learning is personalised and inclusive.

You will monitor pupil progress, provide targeted interventions where required, and maintain a positive classroom environment that encourages curiosity, engagement, and confidence. Your contribution will be key in helping pupils consolidate their foundational skills and prepare for the transition to Key Stage 2.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons across the Year 2 curriculum

  • Deliver engaging literacy, numeracy, and foundation subject lessons

  • Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEND and EAL

  • Promote independence, resilience, and positive learning behaviours

  • Maintain a structured, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment

  • Track pupil progress and maintain accurate assessment records

  • Provide targeted interventions to support pupil attainment

  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, colleagues, and senior leaders

  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding pupil progress

  • Contribute to staff meetings, CPD sessions, and whole-school initiatives

  • Support enrichment activities, school events, and extra-curricular opportunities

  • Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed at all times

Who We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Have experience teaching Key Stage 1, ideally Year 2

  • Demonstrate excellent classroom management and organisational skills

  • Be reflective, proactive, and adaptable

  • Show a strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and pupil wellbeing

  • Work effectively as part of a professional and supportive team

Location

The school is located in Norwich, with excellent transport links and a supportive local community. Staff benefit from a professional, inclusive, and well-resourced working environment where collaboration, development, and wellbeing are prioritised.
