About the Service
The Caltongate service is located in the city centre and is a fast paced and dynamic service. We support 12 clients to live in their own tenancy; this can range from 24/7 support to less frequent engagement.
Our service users include people with learning disabilities, autism, mental health conditions, acquired brain injuries and mobility issues. Because there is so much diversity among the people we support, we provide different levels of care.
We support both men and women throughout our working week with a variety of requirements to manage their tenancy, personal care and grooming, social inclusion accessing their community and working towards positive goals, aspirations and outcomes.
Full time shifts are worked over four days and vary depending on service requirements, shifts are 9.5 hours per day with a 30 minute break allocated, the earliest shift starting from 7am and the latest finish being 10pm. Sleepovers and waking nights may be required as part of a working rota.

Role and Responsibilities
• Provide support that positively impacts person’s we support health and wellbeing
• Contribute and implement support plans
• Be responsible for the delivery of all support and its administration, including personal care, tenancy support, health needs, personal development, emotional needs and inclusion
Essential Skills and Attributes
• Qualified to the level required by the SSSC as a support worker in a housing support service/care at home service, or a willingness to work towards and to successfully complete qualification within the SSSC specified timeframe.
• Ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative
• Passion for helping people live independently
• Experience or interest in housing, social care, or community support
• Commitment to the values and mission of Care Support Scotland, and to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion
Desired Skills and Attributes
• A practice qualification (at least SCQF level 7 or above) recognised by the SSSC, in the category of support workers in a Housing Support Service / Care at Home service, or willingness to work towards this.
• If you’re starting a career in social care or are already working in social care but don’t have the qualifications just yet, we will support you to gain the appropriate qualifications needed to register without condition with the SSSC.
• Understanding of benefits and budgeting support
• Previous demonstrable experience working within an adult social care setting
• Understanding of the Care Inspectorate and its purpose
• Understanding of the SSSC and its purpose
• A Positive Behaviour Support, or Trauma Informed Practice qualification or accreditation.
Additional Notes
• Shift work, weekend work may be a requirement of this role.
• PVG scheme membership & SSSC registration are requirements of this post
