General Foreperson

Costain has been appointed as Delivery Integration Partner by National Highways (NH) for delivery of the A1 Birtley to Coal House road improvement project, in North East England.

As a Foreperson you will safely manage people and all operational activities on a small project ensuring HSQE, budget and programmes are met.

Responsibilities: Delivery of site inductions, daily site briefings and safety briefings to framework contractor site personnel covering appropriate health, safety and environmental topics and ensure records of briefings are maintained

Ensure that all works are properly planned and carried out in safe and controlled manner and in a cost-efficient manner

Coordinate vehicle and plant movements on site ensuring pedestrian segregation

Promote a healthy safety culture on site, challenging behaviours and promoting good practice

Coordinate deliveries of materials to site and maintain site security

Support Site Agent and Engineers in the planning of upcoming works, ensuring adequate labour, plant and materials are available to deliver the works in line with the programme

Coordination of framework contractors’ construction activities on site ensuring interfaces are adequately managed

Review productivity on site and support Site Agent and Planner with programme

Maintain adequate site records inclusive of daily diaries, quantities of works completed and photographic evidence

Support Site Engineers with completion of Inspection and Test Records

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Essential

• Construction industry experience

• Previous water industry experience

• Experience of working on large complex sites

• Experience of supervising sub-contractors

• Understanding of engineering principles and construction techniques

Qualified first aider

Qualifications: Essential Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Supervisors Card Crane supervisor (CPCS) desirable. First Aid at Work New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA) Supervisors - Desirable
• Full UK Driving Licence
