Woking, Surrey (GU21) | 10+ Hours per Week | Self-Employed | Face-to-Face Tuition Remember why you became a teacher?
For many teachers, the most rewarding moments don't come from delivering lessons to a full classroom.
They come from sitting alongside one learner, unlocking their confidence, celebrating a breakthrough and watching them realise they can succeed.
At Equal Education, that's exactly what you'll do.
We're looking for qualified teachers to provide personalised, face-to-face tuition for children and young people who need a different approach to learning. Whether they've experienced disrupted education, have additional learning needs or require extra support to re-engage with learning, you'll become the trusted educator who helps them move forward.
This is teaching at its most personal, and often its most rewarding.
About the RoleAs a Specialist Outreach Tutor, you'll work one-to-one with learners across Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 4 , delivering tailored tuition in English, Maths, Science and Functional Skills .
Every learner has their own story, strengths and challenges. Your role is to adapt your teaching to meet them where they are, helping them rebuild confidence, develop essential skills and experience success at their own pace.
No unnecessary meetings.
No large classes.
Just meaningful teaching that changes lives.
Who You'll SupportYou'll work with a diverse range of learners, including:
- Children Looked After (CLA)
- Young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
- Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC)
- Learners who have experienced permanent exclusion
- Pupils who require personalised education outside mainstream school settings
Each learner is different, but they all have one thing in common, they need a teacher who believes in their potential.
What You'll Be Doing- Delivering engaging one-to-one tuition tailored to each learner's individual needs
- Teaching English, Maths, Science or Functional Skills across KS1-KS4
- Building positive, trusting relationships that encourage confidence and engagement
- Adapting teaching approaches to suit different learning styles, abilities and circumstances
- Monitoring progress and celebrating every achievement, however small
- Working collaboratively with families, schools and professionals to support positive outcomes
- Maintaining accurate records while ensuring safeguarding remains at the heart of everything you do
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
- Enjoy building meaningful relationships with young people
- Can inspire confidence through patience, empathy and encouragement
- Are confident working independently and managing their own schedule
- Can travel locally to deliver face-to-face tuition
- Are available during school hours
- Share our commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and educational opportunity for every learner
Experience supporting vulnerable learners, mentoring young people or working within SEND is welcomed but not essential.
Why Teachers Choose Equal EducationTutoring with Equal Education offers something many classroom teachers have been missing-the opportunity to focus entirely on the individual sitting in front of you.
You'll have the freedom to tailor every session, celebrate genuine progress and see the immediate impact of your teaching.
Whether you're looking to complement your current work, reduce the pressures of full-time classroom teaching or simply rediscover what inspired you to become a teacher, this role offers flexibility without compromising on purpose.
What You'll Receive- Flexible self-employed work that fits around your availability
- A minimum of 10 hours per week , with opportunities to increase your workload
- The opportunity to focus on one learner at a time and make a meaningful difference
- Safeguarding training and ongoing professional support
- The chance to join an award-winning organisation committed to educational equality
- Rewarding work that changes lives-one learner at a time
