Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Locum Consultant post in our Nuclear Medicine department. This is a 12 month fixed term post, for 40 hours per week, and will require on-site presence. You will be a qualified Nuclear Medicine Physician or Radionuclide Radiologist, with experience in reporting a range of Nuclear Medicine procedures. This is a consultant post to support and develop radionuclide and PET imaging and capacity. The successful candidate will have the opportunity, depending on experience, to contribute to the departmental theranostics program. We are one of the biggest Nuclear Medicine departments in UK and Europe, providing a range of specialist procedures in PET, radionuclide therapy and general nuclear medicine. Our service is rapidly expanding and we are looking for a motivated individual who can work flexibly and provide leadership and specialist expertise to drive quality improvements, sustainability and innovation. - To work closely with the senior professional workforce, radiographer and technologist colleagues, medical, physicist and nursing staff to ensure provision of an efficient and responsive Nuclear Medicine service including providing consultant supervision for diagnostic radionuclide imaging in all service areas.
- Report general nuclear medicine, bone densitometry and PET/CT, PET/MRI studies
- Attend multidisciplinary oncological and non-oncological multidisciplinary meetings
- Contribute to the audit and quality improvement projects in the department

Knowledge and Qualifications
- Full and specialist registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) or be eligible for registration within 6 months of interview. If the applicant is UK trained, they must also be holder of Completion of Training (CCT) in Nuclear Medicine or Radiology (with evidence for substantive subspecialty training in Nuclear Medicine) or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview. Non-UK trained doctors must be on the GMC register and appropriate specialist register by date of interview.
- MBBS [or equivalent], FRCR [or equivalent] or Postgraduate Diploma/MSc in Nuclear Medicine
- Expertise and experience in all aspects of Radionuclide Imaging
- Willingness to participate in research
- Expertise and experience in all aspects of Radiology
- Experience in presenting at MDT meetings
- Experience in performing research projects and manuscript preparation for publication
- Experience in undergraduate and post-graduate teaching
- Clinical audit experience
- Ability and commitment to teach in a clinical setting
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload, to delegate responsibility as appropriate and to supervise staff
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment & on own initiative
- The ability to promote teamwork and motivate colleagues
