About us and the role

Avanti House is seeking a committed Teacher of Dance to join our thriving and inclusive school community. This is an excellent opportunity for you to inspire a love of learning through engaging, well-structured lessons while helping all pupils achieve strong academic outcomes in a supportive and respectful environment.

You will be part of a values-led setting where you can build positive, purposeful relationships with pupils and contribute to a culture of high expectations, kindness, and care.

In this role, you will work alongside a collaborative and supportive team, sharing effective practice and continuing to refine your teaching. You will have access to high-quality professional development and opportunities to grow your career within a forward-thinking trust.

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about their subject, committed to inclusive education, and keen to make a meaningful contribution both in the classroom and to the wider life of the school.

School visits are welcomed and encouraged. Please contact the school to arrange a suitable time.

Avanti House Secondary School is a thriving school in Stanmore, Harrow. "In addition to achieving well academically, pupils are very well supported to develop more widely. The culture and ethos of the school ensure that pupils are taught to be responsible and caring citizens" - (OFSTED, 2023).

Principal Quote:

"The reality behind the school is the people in it. The highlight of our school, is that our staff give students the opportunities to become the best versions of themselves and help make the world a better place." - Simon Arnell, Principal

What will you do?

  • Deliver high-quality, inclusive teaching that secures strong progress, attainment, and positive behaviour for all pupils.
  • Plan, differentiate, and assess effectively, using data and feedback to support individual needs and drive continuous improvement.
  • Create a safe, respectful learning environment, modelling high standards of conduct and promoting pupils' wellbeing and safeguarding at all times.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external partners to support pupils' development and contribute to the wider life of the school.
  • Uphold professional standards, engage in ongoing development, and fulfil statutory duties in line with the Teachers' Standards and school policies.
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of students, ensuring compliance with school policies and protocols.

What are we looking for?

  • Qualified to bachelor's degree level in relevant or allied subject
  • QTS qualified
  • Able to self-start, work independently and collaboratively as part of a team- whether led or leading
  • Clear vision and understanding of how to implement and sustain a high-quality teaching and learning
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to delegate
  • Commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of all students
