Farm Engineer

The Farm Engineer will report directly to the Workshop Manager and play a key in maintaining, servicing, and supporting a wide range of agricultural equipment and machinery. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain high standards of workmanship, demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving, and contribute positively to the overall efficiency of the workshop and wider operation.

Duties and responsibilities

• Complete all relevant documentation accurately and within required timescales.

• Carry out routine servicing and maintenance, including changing fluids, lubricating components, and performing preventative maintenance on a variety of machinery and equipment.

• Follow all health and safety procedures and take reasonable care for your own safety and that of colleagues, contractors, and visitors.

• Identify and report any faults, defects, or concerns relating to machinery or equipment to the Workshop Manager promptly.

• Inspect, remove, repair, and replace machinery and components in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and industry best practice.

• Demonstrate the skills, knowledge, and attention to detail required to carry out tasks safely and effectively.

• Plan, organise, and prioritise workloads to ensure work is completed efficiently and to the required standard.

• Assist with the development, modification, and improvement of both new and existing machinery.

• Machine components and assist with the assembly and build of equipment within the workshop environment.

• Test low-voltage electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems, accurately recording and reporting findings.

• Wear suitable clothing appropriate for the , working environment, and weather conditions.

• Adhere to company hygiene and health and safety policies, including the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).

• Report any illness, injury, accident, near miss, or safety concern immediately to the Workshop Manager.

• Complete all assigned work to the required quality and performance standards.

• Support and collaborate with colleagues, treating everyone with professionalism, respect, and dignity.

• Work efficiently and effectively while following company policies, procedures, and training requirements.

• Maintain high standards of housekeeping, ensuring work areas are kept clean, tidy, and free from unnecessary waste.

• Take breaks in accordance with company policy and operational requirements.

• Take responsibility for maintaining a safe working environment and raise any concerns promptly.

• Raise any payroll or employment-related queries with management as soon as possible to enable prompt resolution.
