We have an exciting opportunity for a band 6 SLT to join our education service. The role will include supporting autistic children and young people as part of the on-site team within a special school setting alongside work in the mainstream schools team.
Providing a specialist service to children attending mainstream and special schools working closely with parents/carers and staff to enable children to develop their speech, language and communication skills and to access the curriculum.
Assess the needs, develop and implement specialist SLT treatment to children referred to the SLT Education service.
Provide advice regarding the management and care of children with speech, language and communication difficulties.
Deliver specialist interventions to children and young people with Education, Health and Care Plans
Work with the onsite therapies team to embed good universal and targeted level practise within a special school setting
Develop a shared understanding of each child's speech, language and communication needs and how these can be supported
Access 1:1 & peer group supervision sessions and a regular in-house training programme to develop clinical and supervision skills.

Applicants are expected to present clear and relevant evidence of the competencies and responsibilities detailed in the attached Job Description and Person Specification, together with a demonstrated commitment to the Trusts values of Accountability, Inclusion, Compassion, and Empowerment.
**Degree and Licence to Practise from the Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists
Experience of supporting CYP, families and schools in line with the Children and Families Act 2014 including contribution to statutory assessments (Education Health and Care Plan Needs Assessments), contribution to the annual review process and delivery of SLT provision as specified in Education health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
Experience Training others
Training/experience of supporting students and more junior qualified therapists including provision of supervision and line management
Understanding of typical child development Speech and Language, Play and other milestones
Good working knowledge of appropriate range of assessments and interventions for school aged CYP with Speech, Language and Communication needs and an ability to compare and contrast relative benefits to individual CYP
Understanding and application of Education Practice and Policy including the Children and Families Act 2014
Awareness of national policies and procedures (relevant to the Education)
Able to maintain prolonged concentration in order to assess the speech, language and communication skills of CYP using formal and informal assessments
